Florida police from Charlotte county were called out to an apartment block after receiving a 911 call for help with an ‘emergency’.

When they arrived at the apartment of Michael James Gables, 65, who had placed the call, Gables handed them $20 and asked the officers to buy him some liquor from a local store.

Police warned him that a liquor delivery was not an emergency and that if he misused the emergency line again, he would be arrested.  Gables told the officers he understood.

The next day, however, Gables made another call to 911, once again reporting an ‘emergency’.

This time, Gables asked police to get his ice cream out of the freezer, as he was not able to get out of his recliner.

He was arrested and charged with misuse of the 911 service.
