The ongoing border conflict between India and China seems to be intensifying, with new satellite pictures showing the Chinese army has constructed more structures in the disputed area.

The clash between the two countries has left at least 20 Indian troops dead with more casualties on the Chinese side that have not been confirmed by the Chinese army.

The fighting took place without any firearms because of a 1996 agreement barring guns from the area.

The disputed zone is situated in the high mountains of the Himalayas in the territory of Ladakh, and dates back to the formation of India and the People’s Republic of China.

The fresh satellite images taken on Monday are from space technology company Maxar. The structures overlooking the Galwan River, which appear to have been built by China, were not visible in aerial photographs from several weeks ago.

The situation in the region remains very tense and both India and China have not yet commented on the new structures.
