The FBI and Department of Homeland Security have taken pre-emptive measures which seek to bolster the safety and security for the inauguration of U.S President- Elect Joe Biden on the 20th of January 2021.

After the U.S Capitol was stormed by a violent group of Trump supporters, federal law enforcement has been determined to ensure the safety of the top legislatures and politicians at the upcoming inauguration proceedings. In an attempt to prevent another unprecedent riot.

The National Guard have begun descending onto Washington D.C in droves. In addition to the presence of capitol police and other federal law enforcement agencies, the amount of National Guard personnel will reach approximately 21 000. With an extensive security perimeter and barricades being setup around the White House and Capitol building, the event will be closed off to the public.

In a statement released by the US Justice Department, Acting Attorney General Jefferey Rosen has said that there would be “No tolerance whatsoever for any attempts to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power on January 20th.” Furthermore, he has stated that anyone who seeks to occupy government buildings, vandalize, and commit acts of violence will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

With the peaceful transfer of power being a fundamental symbol of democracy, come Wednesday, the entire world will be fixated on the inauguration.
