Uber Eats drivers plan to switch off their cellphones on Friday over wage cuts

Uber Eats drivers have announced their intention to switch off their apps all day on Friday as part of their nationwide protest against their wage cuts.

This is following their claim that concerns they presented haven’t been adequately addressed by Uber bosses.

After Uber Eats cut delivery fees last year, drivers brought deliveries in Gauteng to a standstill for two days last month, in response to a sharp fall in their income over the past months.

Speaking to media outlets, an Uber Driver Partner Association representative told the media that they have instructed drivers to switch off their apps on Friday as part of their protest. Moreover, they will also be gathering and picketing outside certain restaurants on Friday.

The drivers are unhappy with how Uber bosses are dealing with their concerns.
