A man was arrested in Florida after speeding through the site of a serious crash at around 161km/h.

Joshua Yakov Gaukhman, 24, and is facing six counts of aggravated assault, possession of cocaine, drug equipment possession and driving whilst under the influence.

According to police, Gaukhman raced through the scene of a serious crash at over 160km/h in an area where the speed limit was 72km/h. When police pulled Gaukhman’s BMW over, they noticed a bag of white powder in clear view in the car’s centre console. The powder later tested positive for cocaine.

Gaukhman allegedly had little to tell the police except that he was on his way to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, and had “business to do”.  At the time, Gaukhman was wearing only ‘an undershirt, boxer-briefs and one sock’.

After being placed in the patrol car, Gaukhman allegedly began making sexually suggestive noises at a police officer, and responded sarcastically when being read his rights. Gaukhman remained silent when asked if he understood his rights. When the officer asked him again if he understood, Gaukhman replied: ‘I thought you wanted me to remain silent.’

Gaukhman remains in police custody in the Sarasota County Jail.
