Chris Morris, the South African cricketing all-rounder, has announced his retirement from all forms of the game.

Morris, 34, made the announcement on his Instagram page, saying: ‘Thanks to all who have played a part in my journey whether it be big or small…it’s been a fun ride!’

Morris played four Tests for South Africa, as well as 42 ODIs and 23 T20Is, having played for the Proteas between 2013 and 2019.

He was also known for being one of the highest-paid players in the Indian T20 league, the Indian Premier League. For the 2021 IPL he was sold for a record US$2.2 million to the Rajasthan Royals.

Morris also played in T20 leagues in South Africa, Australia, England, and the West Indies.

However, his relative lack of success at international level will be considered one of the disappointments of recent South African cricket history.

He will take up a coaching role with the Titans, the Tshwane-based team where he spent much of his professional cricket career.
