India and the United States have announced that they will take part in joint military exercises in October of this year, near the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
The LAC is the de-facto border between China and India as the official border has been a matter of dispute since the Sino-India war of 1962.
The LAC is high in the Himalayan mountains and will focus on combined arms training at very high altitudes.
The exercises come at a time of heightened tension between the U.S. and China, as well as between India and China.
