The military junta that governs Burkina Faso intends to ban homosexual acts.
The BBC reports that the junta has approved legislation which will make homosexual acts a punishable offence. No other details were provided.
While homosexuality was frowned upon in Burkina Faso, it was never outlawed. This appears likely to change.
The country’s justice minister, Edasso Rodrigue Bayala, was quoted as saying: “Henceforth homosexuality and associated practices will be punished by the law.”
