The Deputy President is to attend the Easter Sunday Pilgrimage ‘at the Holy City of Moria’ in Limpopo.

The Presidency has announced that the Deputy President, Mr David Mabuza, will attend a church service this coming Sunday.

According to the Presidency, Mr Mabuza will “join thousands of worshipers of the St. Engenas Zion Christian Church (ZCC) during the Easter Sunday Pilgrimage at the Holy City of Moria in Limpopo”.

The Presidency said that Mr Mabuza “attends the Easter Sunday Pilgrimage for the second time in Moria, to receive the Holy Sermon by the Spiritual Head of the St. Engenas Zion Christian Church, His Grace Bishop Engenas Lekganyane” and that “the St. Engenas Zion Christian Church continues to play an important role in praying for peace, prosperity and moral regeneration in our country, continent and indeed the entire world”.

Several sources have implicated Mr Mabuza in large-scale political corruption and violence. In August 2018, the New York Times (read the article here) alleged, among other things, that Mr Mabuza “siphoned off money from schools and other public services to buy loyalty and amass enormous power, making him impossible to ignore on the national stage and putting him in position to shape South Africa for years to come”.
