n a seemingly extraordinary act of bravery State Security Minister, Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba has lobbied the top six of the ANC to support her in her fight with Ace Magashula, the ANC’s secretary-general and one of the very same top six.

Magashule launched a stinging attack on Letsatsi-Duba, accusing her of “peddling information that he tampered with the ANC’s election list.

Anticipating who she was dealing with she sent the request to Magashule and copied it to the five other members.

President Cyril Ramaphosa’s high-level report into the State Security Agency (SSA) has been met with resistance by elements in the SSA who suspect the probe was designed to target former minister David Mahlobo’s associated and former director-general, Arthur Fraser.

The Minister’s Lebohang Mafokosi said: “ She will not be intimidated by those who are attempting to derail the critical task of rooting out corruption in the SSA and ensuring that a professional intelligence service is re-established and recalibrated to serve the country and its people.”

Letsatsi-Duba is having counter-claims thrown at her by Magashula and Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane regarding nepotism and failing to hand over a “declassified” investigative report allegedly implicating Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan regarding the so-called ‘rogue unit’ at SARS (Spy boss is at war with Ace Magashule, City Press, Setumo Stone, 25 March 2019).
