Updates on the National Aeronautical and Space Agency (NASA) Perseverance Mars Rover, which made a successful landing this week, are being uploaded on Twitter.

The primary objective of the mission is to probe the red planet for traces of past life.

Because of an 11-minute signal lag between Mars and Earth, the rover’s landing could not be controlled by NASA technicians but was left to an autonomous guidance system specially developed for the critical operation.

The craft, which left Earth in July 2020, is equipped with two microphones and 19 cameras.

NASA has created a Twitter account where images from the rover will be uploaded.
