Jeffrey, the baboon that’s been roaming Johannesburg’s northern and western suburbs since the beginning of March, has been captured and relocated to Limpopo.

According to TimesLive, he was captured on Good Friday in Helderkruin in Roodepoort. He was then transported to a rehabilitation facility in Polokwane where he interacted with other animals. He has now been released into the bush near the Limpopo town.

There had been concerns over Jeffrey’s safety as he had been spotted crossing the busy Ontdekkers Rd on the West Rand as well as the N1 highway.

In a Facebook post the organization that had had a hand in capturing Jeffrey, Community-Led Animal Welfare (CLAW), thanked members of the community for their assistance through sending WhatsApp location pins of sightings of Jeffrey.
