Gary Dwain St. Aubyn Campbell, 59, from Sanford, Florida is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly attacked his family with a Katana, a Japanese sword.

A 911 emergency call was made at around 1:30 AM last week in which a man, who was later identified as Campbell, told the call operator that urgent medical assistance was needed at his address, but he refused to state the nature of the emergency, allegedly saying only that “when they get here, they will find out.”

When police and medical services arrived, they said they found Campbell pacing outside the house. His three family members were bleeding from severe stab wounds and were rushed to hospital, two of them in critical condition.

The police affidavit claimed that Campbell told police that he first attacked his father and then his mother and injured his sister when she tried to intervene. He said he carried out the attack because “physical abuse as a child and constant questioning and nagging as an adult”, had prompted rage within him.

He is being held in a local jail awaiting trial.
