In a recent statement, the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) dismissed claims that soldiers are being deployed to Nkandla to confront supporters of former President Jacob Zuma.

“The SANDF has not been deployed for any role in Nkandla”, the statement read. “We would like to reassure South Africans not to be misled by these malicious reports intended to cause panic and chaos”, the statement continued.

This follows media reports about dozens of supporters camping at the homestead to “protect” Zuma from incarceration following the judgement of the Constitutional Court which sentenced Zuma to jail for 15 months for his refusal to testify before the Zondo commission of inquiry into the state capture.

This is a developing news story.
