The US is sending a special envoy to Ethiopia to try to find a peaceful solution to the fighting in the country.

Special envoy to the Horn of Africa, Jeffrey Feltman, will be travelling to the region and will meet officials in Ethiopia, Djibouti, and the United Arab Emirates, to discuss the crisis and try to find a way to end it.,

The conflict is between the Ethiopian government and the region of Tigray, and broke out at the end of last year. The war is continuing to escalate with another rebel army, Oromo Liberation Army, joining forces with the Tigrayans.  Fighting has also spilled over into Sudan and Somalia. Armed forces from Somalia and Eritrea have also been involved in the conflict, sparking fears it could become a broader regional war.

It is estimated that two million people have been forced from their homes as a result of the fighting, and five million are in need of humanitarian assistance.
