Discovery, the South African healthcare and insurance giant, will require all its staff to be vaccinated from 2022.
Adrian Gore, the founder and CEO of the company, said that requiring mandatory vaccinations for staff was a ‘clear moral and social obligation’.
BusinessLive quoted Gore as saying: ‘You need more than just gentle nudges, you need people to take a stand. We’re pretty resolved and I don’t fear that it will do the opposite [to encouraging vaccination]. I think most people are reasonable.’
According to Gore about half of Discovery’s 10 000 staff complement had already been vaccinated against the virus.
Discovery has reportedly lost 14 000 clients to Covid-19 as well as over 20 staff members.
