EFF leader Julius Malema says the ANC will have to support the EFF position on land expropriation without compensation ‘before we talk about metros’.

‘Cyril is going to have to vote with us on land expropriation without compensation before we talk about metros,’ News24 quoted Malema as saying.

‘We are using everything available to make sure our land is expropriated within historical means. We are using this [election] outcome to try and amend the Constitution.’

Earlier, he said that the sub-50% result for the ANC had made the EFF ‘extremely excited’.

On coalitions, Malema indicated that the party was ‘not going to approach anyone’ to discuss deals, but that anyone approaching the EFF ‘will find our door open’.

He described as ‘racist’ the positions of the DA and FF Plus that they would not work with the EFF.

A News24 report noted that Malema ‘believes both parties have a racist agenda. He warns the EFF might have to get into a coalition in areas such as Tshwane in an effort to block a racist agenda by the DA and FF-Plus.’

According to the report, Malema ‘says the EFF would be willing to work with the IFP in KZN’.

He indicated that the party would approach coalitions on the basis of specific objectives rather than political positions. These objectives would be related to particular services, such as water and electricity, and the party would insist on implementable projects that had timeframes.

On the EFF’s own performance, he said: ‘We are going to take as long as it takes to grow. We are not running a popcorn revolution.’
