Zambia will only allow people who can prove they have been vaccinated to access government buildings.

According to a BBC report the decision was taken on Sunday by the government following an update on the Covid-19 situation in the country.

People who have not been vaccinated will from today not be able to access government buildings. Civil servants will also have to prove that they have been vaccinated to continue working.

Zambia has been placed on a number of no-fly lists around the world because of the new Omicron Covid variant, even though the variant has not been detected in the country to date.

Fewer than 5% of Zambians had been vaccinated against the disease according to data from earlier this month.
