The Indian army has over the past 3 months hosted a ‘hackathon’, a senior general said on Thursday.

The exercise sought to improve India’s cyber warfare capability and involved 15 000 civilians who took part in exercises which simulated cyber-attacks, and provided training in how to repel cyber-attacks.

The ‘hackathon’ is part of India’s effort to enhance the modern capabilities of its 1.3 million strong military in a confrontation with an advanced power such as the People’s Republic of China.
