SA Rugby has announced that Georgia, Zimbabwe, and Kenya will all play in the first division of South Africa’s Currie Cup this season.

While the premier division is already under way, with the Sharks currently at the top of the standings, the first division is likely to start in April.

Seven local sides will be joined in the first division by the three international teams. It is believed that Zimbabwe and Kenya will send full-strength teams while the Georgians will only send players that play locally in Georgia, with many of their first-choice team playing for French clubs, and not being available.

All three teams could still qualify for the next year’s Rugby World Cup, with Georgia the most likely to play in the tournament.
