The inaugural trial of those accused of war crimes in the Central African Republic’s (CAR) civil war was postponed on Tuesday as the lawyers for the defence boycotted the trial.

According to Reuters, the exact reason for the boycott was not made clear to the media.

CAR’s civil war has been raging for nearly a decade and has become a highly complex conflict between multiple factions and with involvement from many major countries such as South Africa, Russia, France, and Rwanda.

The trial is expected to resume on the 25th of April.
