The Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin, has taken a drug test, after footage emerged of her dancing at a party.

The 36-year-old is currently the third youngest head-of-government in the world, and was the youngest when she became Prime Minister in 2019.

After having been accused of taking drugs Marin undertook a drugs test to dispel rumours that she had consumed illegal narcotics. She said: ‘I consider these accusations to be very serious and, though I consider the demand for a drug test unjust, for my own legal protection and to clear up any doubts, I have taken a drug test today, the results of which will come in about a week.

She also said: ‘I trust that people understand that leisure time and work time can be separated.’

Marin is leading Finland through its greatest security crisis since the Cold War, with concerns over Russian aggression seeing the country having applied to the military alliance, NATO, after many years of formal neutrality.

Finland shares a 1 400 km long border with Russia.
