A string of terrorist attacks by Jihadist groups across Burkina Faso over the last 2 weeks has resulted in 32 deaths, both soldiers and civilians.

The attacks included assaults on villages, a bomb attack as well as attacks on trucks and vans in rural areas.

The attacks follow in the wake of Burkina Faso’s government expelling French troops who were assisting the country in combating the Jihadist groups across the region.

Ibrahim Traoré, the leader of Burkina Faso’s military junta, who assumed power in a coup in September last year, attempted to stem the violence through mass mobilisation of militias to assist the army, but this has proved ineffective so far.
