An unidentified object has been shot down over Alaska by an American fighter jet.

A spokesman for the America government, John Kirby, said that the object had been the size of a small car and its purpose was unknown. It could also have posed a threat to civilian aviation.

According to Kirby the object had been at an altitude of 12 000m and was travelling at about 60km/h. It had been moving away from Alaska, to the North Pole, when it was shot down.

‘We do not know who owns it, whether it’s state owned or corporate owned or privately owned,’ Kirby said.

This incident comes a week after a Chinese spy balloon was shot down in America airspace.
