The United States is offering a reward of $5 million for information that could lead to the capture of a rebel leader active in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The reward is for the leader of the Allied Defence Forces (ADF), Seka Musa Baluku.

Under the leadership of Baluku, who is originally from Uganda, the ADF has killed, maimed, and raped civilians, according to Washington.

The ADF is believed to have ties to the Islamic State and was declared a terrorist group by the US in 2021.

The ADF is one of many armed groups active in the east of the DRC, which has been increasingly destabilised in recent years.
