Four people have been arrested in Libya for trying to encourage Muslims to convert to Christianity.

Two of the arrested individuals are Americans, while the other two are reportedly Libyan nationals.

The two Americans were reportedly both working for the same private school in Tripoli, the capital. One of the people arrested is accused of being a missionary for the Arkansas-based Assemblies of God church.

While Christians are not prevented from practising their religion in Libya, Islam is the state religion of the country and it is illegal to try to convert Muslims to any other faiths.
