South African-born entrepreneur Elon Musk is once again the richest man in the world, thanks to a rise in the value of his electric car company, Tesla.

Musk’s net worth is now estimated at US$192 billion.

Musk overtook Bernard Arnault, the head of a luxury goods business, LVMH, who is now worth US$187 billion.

Jeff Bezos, the Amazon boss, and Bill Gates, one of the founders of Microsoft, are the third and fourth richest people in the world, respectively.

Arnault had overtaken Musk at the top of the world’s rich list at the end of last year, after shares in LVMH had risen, at the same time as a decline in the value of Tesla shares. However, this year Arnault’s company has seen its value fall, while confidence has been restored somewhat in Tesla.
