At a meeting held late last week, South Korean President, Yoon Suk Yeol, met with Polish president Andrzej Duda at the presidential palace in Warsaw.
Yoon said that: “With President Duda, we discussed in depth the development of the strategic relations between the two countries.”
Relations have recently deepened between South Korea and Poland as Poland has embarked on a massive expansion of its military. Part of this has been the acquisition of 980 K2 South Korean tanks, considered one of the best tank designs in the world. This is to replace the old T-72 stockpiles, many of which have been sent to equip the Ukrainian army by Poland.
If Poland follows through with its ambitious military spending plans, it will within the decade have one of the largest and best equipped land armies in Europe dwarfing that of traditional European military leaders, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
