The victim of the ‘Krugersdorp parking lot assault’, Hilton Pretorius (32), has succumbed to his injuries.

Pretorius died in Tshepong Hospital on Wednesday morning after spending weeks in the ICU.

Pretorius and PW Roos were attacked by Wernich Botha (33). Roos had to get 17 stitches and suffered a concussion and injuries to his shoulder.

Two sources claimed separately to News24 last week that Botha had returned from Mogadishu, Somalia, to find his girlfriend with Pretorius, who was her ex-boyfriend.

Botha would work out of the country for three months and return for several weeks, a common rotation for expatriate workers.

In widely shared videos of the incident, a woman with red hair, believed to be Natasha Fisher, is seen running toward a blue Toyota Land Cruiser.

A man believed to be Botha exits the vehicle and walks toward Pretorius, who also moves toward his attacker, before he is knocked to the ground with a forceful blow.

A second video, showing Fisher crying with her hands covered in blood, shows a group of men attempting to help Pretorius. Botha can be seen placing him in the recovery position.

Roos is seen standing behind Botha, and a scuffle breaks out between some of the men and Botha, before he also punches Roos, who falls to the ground unconscious. Botha then also attempts to aid Roos.

Myburgh said the attempted murder charge would be officially changed to murder when Botha appears in court on 19 October.
