Bobi, the world’s oldest dog according to the Guinness Book of World Records, has died.

Bobi was 31 when he died over the weekend in Portugal.

He was a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, a breed native to Portugal. These dogs are traditionally used as guard dogs.

Bobi broke the record of Bluey, an Australian dog that had lived to the age of 29.

Leonel Costa, Bobi’s owner, said that apart from a health scare in 2018, Bobi had lived a healthy trouble-free life.

The Guinness Book of World Records is yet to announce the name of the new oldest living dog.
