One South African and two Tanzanians are reportedly among the more than 200 hostages that have been seized by the Palestinian terrorist group, Hamas, earlier this month. This was according to the Israeli government.
The Tanzanian government has confirmed that two of its citizens are being held while there has been no acknowledgement from Pretoria regarding its national.
More than half of the 224 people held by Hamas are foreigners, with people from 25 countries being held by the group. People from Thailand make up the single biggest group, with over 50 Thais being held hostage by Hamas.
The hostages were taken as part of an attack by Hamas on Israel earlier this month, which saw over 1 000 people killed.
