All KFC restaurants in Lesotho have been closed temporarily because of ongoing supply problems from South Africa.

All chicken imports from South Africa have been banned by the Lesotho government because of the ongoing avian flu crisis in South Africa. Chicken imports from South Africa have also been banned by Botswana and Namibia.

KFC in Lesotho said: ‘Our supply chain has been severely impacted due to unexpected government regulations.’

The fast food company has a number of outlets in the capital, Maseru, as well as in a number of other towns in the country, but has said it believes the closures will be only temporary.
