Tertuis Simmers will lead the DA in the Western Cape into the 2024 general election.

He was elected yesterday as provincial leader, beating his opponent Bonginkosi Madikizela.

‘Let me first start by thanking each and every one of you for showing your trust in me. After today, the hard work starts. I am humbled by your trust in me. You have not stabbed people in the back, and you can still reach the top. As your provincial leader, I will execute a mandate over the next three years’, Simmers said.

Jaco Londt was elected unopposed as provincial chairperson. Geordin Hill-Lewis, also unopposed, was elected deputy leader.

Anroux Marais (first place), Carl Pophaim (second place) and Zimkhitha Sulelo (third place) were elected as the three deputy provincial chairpersons.

Erik Marais was elected unopposed to retain his position as finance chairperson.
