The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has imposed new trade restrictions on companies in China for having provided support to Russia over its war against Ukraine.
The measures represent the first time Japan has gone after firms based in China for their role in the war.
Japan has unveiled trade restrictions against firms in China, India, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan over their alleged support for Russia’s war on Ukraine.
The sanctions seek to prevent Japanese firms from exporting to listed companies. These include Asia Pacific Links Ltd and Yilufa Electronics Limited.
Japan has adopted a position strongly supportive of Ukraine, and recently enacted measures to prevent firms from getting involved in the supply of North Korean arms to Russia.
In addition, Japan introduced similar measures against firms based in India, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
