Another large diamond has been found in Botswana, only a month after another major find.
Lucara Diamond dug up a diamond weighing in at 2 942 carats at its Karowe mine in August, the second-biggest diamond ever found, after the famous Cullinan diamond.
The company announced it had found another diamond of over 1 000 carats over the weekend, with the newest find weighing in at 1 094 carats.
This is now the sixth diamond of more than 1 000 carats discovered at the mine.
Lucara CEO, William Lamb, was quoted as saying: “The recovery of this exceptional 1 094 ct diamond is a testament to Karowe’s remarkable potential and further validates our investment in the underground expansion project. These continued discoveries of large, high-value diamonds demonstrate the consistent quality of our resource and its ability to deliver substantial returns.”
