Daily Friend writer Jonathan Katzenellenbogen has won recognition in the prestigious Sanlam Financial Journalist of the Year awards for his writing on the economy. 

Katzenellenbogen, whose work is published on the Daily Friend every Wednesday, was the second runner-up in the ‘Economy’ section of the award, in which the winner was Claire Bisseker of the Financial Mail, and the first runner-up, Lisa Steyn of Business Day

In a note of congratulation, IRR CEO-elect John Endres said: ‘I was delighted to learn that Jonathan Katzenellenbogen has been recognised as one of the country’s top financial journalists. His achievement underscores the importance of independent journalists and platforms such as the Daily Friend in South Africa’s diverse media landscape.’

Katzenellenbogen is a veteran financial journalist. His articles have appeared on DefenceWeb, Politicsweb, and in a number of overseas publications. He has worked on Business Day and as a TV and radio reporter and newsreader.
