In an article published in the Canadian newspaper, National Post, clinical psychologist, psychology professor, and best-selling author Jordan Peterson announced his resignation, citing Diversity, Inclusivity and Equity mandates as the primary reason.

Peterson has become the latest academic to resign from a university due to increasingly stringent left-wing bureaucracy. Other notable academics who have resigned for similar reasons include Peter Boghossian (Portland State University), Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (Evergreen State College).

Peterson explains his decision as being due to a combination of Diversity, Inclusivity and Equity (DIE) mandates and his so-called ‘unacceptable philosophical positions’. He explains that he cannot, in good conscience continue to train his ‘qualified and supremely trained heterosexual white male graduate students’ when they face a negligible chance of being offered university research positions.

Peterson says the flaws in DIE mandates stem from the ‘appalling ideology currently demolishing the universities and, downstream, the general culture’.

He criticises DIE mandates because, when combined with the death of objective testing, it means that universities are producing a generation of ‘utterly’ unqualified researchers which has ‘compromised the universities so badly that it can hardly be overstated’.

‘We are now at the point’, he writes, ‘where race, ethnicity, “gender”, or sexual preference is first, accepted as the fundamental characteristic defining each person (just as the radical leftists were hoping) and second, is now treated as the most important qualification for study, research and employment.’

This ideology, he writes, ‘is not friend to peace and tolerance. It is absolutely and completely the enemy of competence and justice.’

His criticism of DIE mandates and ideology also applies to Hollywood, the media and many of the professions.
