The South African squad to take on England in a serious of limited overs matches later this month, has been announced.

A 24-man squad was announced by the selectors, with few surprises. Leading batsman and wicketkeeper, Quinton de Kock, will captain the side. Glenton Stuurman, the Warriors seamer, received his first international call-up. George Linde, the Cobras spinning all-rounder, also received his first call-up for a South African limited overs squad, although he has played a Test match before.

There were also a number of surprises in who was left out. Veterans Dale Steyn and Chris Morris were both excluded, despite having played in the ongoing Indian Premier League.

The England tour will be a boost for the beleaguered sport in South Africa. Cricket South Africa, the game’s governing body, recently saw its entire board replaced, after the previous board resigned en masse, following accusations of maladministration of corruption.

The first match is a T20I on 27 November at Cape Town.

The full squad is as follows: Quinton de Kock (captain, Momentum Multiply Titans), Temba Bavuma (Imperial Lions), Junior Dala (Momentum Multiply Titans), Faf du Plessis (Momentum Multiply Titans), Bjorn Fortuin (Imperial Lions), Beuran Hendricks (Imperial Lions), Reeza Hendricks (Imperial Lions), Heinrich Klaasen (Momentum Multiply Titans), George Linde (Six Gun Grill Cape Cobras), Keshav Maharaj (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), Janneman Malan (Six Gun Grill Cape Cobras), David Miller (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), Lungi Ngidi (Momentum Multiply Titans), Anrich Nortje (Warriors), Andile Phehlukwayo (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), Dwaine Pretorius (Imperial Lions), Kagiso Rabada (Imperial Lions), Tabraiz Shamsi (Momentum Multiply Titans), Lutho Sipamla (Imperial Lions), Jon-Jon Smuts (Warriors), Glenton Stuurman (Warriors), Pite van Biljon (VKB Knights), Rassie van der Dussen (Imperial Lions), and Kyle Verreynne (Six Gun Grill Cape Cobras).
