The Institute of Race Relations (IRR) on Monday delivered a letter to  the South African National Roads Agency (Sanral), regarding its threat to suspend motor vehicle licences of motorists who have outstanding e-toll debts.

This delivery is part of the IRR’s ongoing #StopCitizenAbuse campaign.

In the letter the IRR is urging motorists who are denied renewal of their vehicle licenses because of e-toll debts to stand against this abuse, and also to support the IRR in putting pressure on the Presidency and on politicians to rethink this policy.

The letter was received and signed for, but there was no indication given about when the IRR can expect a response.

The IRR plans to stay in touch with Sanral.
