South Africa has lost two actors this past weekend. The passing of Menzi Ngubane and Noxolo Maqashalala was declared on Saturday night.

The 56-year-old Ngubane suffered a stroke back in 2020 and passed away on Saturday at his home in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal.

The Kwakhala Nyonini, Generations and most recently, Isibaya star was loved and celebrated for all his roles on television.

A number of people took to social media to remember Ngubane’s work on social media.

News of the death of the 44-year-old Noxolo Maqashalala, who was found dead at her home in Honeydew, Johannesburg on Friday, broke on social media on Saturday night.

Maqashalala was most well-known for her role in the youth drama Tsha Tsha and also acted in Intersexions, Generations, and Rhythm City

Minister of Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa, expressed his condolences to the two families. In a statement on Sunday, the Minister said: ‘South Africa and the world have lost two phenomenal thespians.’
