Sanlam, the largest insurer in Africa, has become the latest major South African company to say it will require its staff to be vaccinated.

It said that individuals will be able to opt out of vaccinations only under ‘exceptional’ circumstances.

This follows the announcement by Adrian Gore, the CEO of Discovery, that all its staff will be expected to be vaccinated.

Curro, the private education company, has also said that it will require all its staff to be vaccinated.

Meanwhile Neal Froneman, the CEO of mining company, Sibanye-Stillwater, has also said that his company is considering requiring staff to be vaccinated.

Fin24 quoted Froneman as saying: ‘I think it is going to become a worldwide phenomenon that work in places where people have to congregate is only going to take place when everyone has been vaccinated. As a principle, from a company point of view, it is something we are seriously considering.’
