Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema on Friday said that the reason the party had not publicly disclosed any donations over R100 000 was because the party did not rely on donations.

Last week was the first time that political parties had to publicly disclose their sources of funding in line with the new Political Party Funding Act of 2018. One of the requirements of the new law is that parties inform the public about any donations above R100 000 that they had received.

Only 3 parties declared their donations, the ANC, the DA and ActionSA.  Despite being the 3rd largest party, the EFF did not declare donations.

Malema said that there was no disclosure as the party did not rely on  donations to get by and were able to make do with the funding they received from the IEC.

Malema said further that the electoral authorities would be able to find out all about their finances once the audit of their books had been completed.
