The luxury vehicles of businessman Hamilton Ndlovu will go on auction on Wednesday.
Ndlovu secured close to R172 million in personal protective equipment (PPE) contracts from the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) through entities directly and indirectly linked to him.
The appointed curator bonis of Hamilton Projects CC, will make available for auction several supercar and luxury sport SUVs with approximately 150 passenger and commercial vehicles. The vehicles were obtained from bank repossessions and asset forfeiture matters.
The cars include a Porsche Panamera GTS Sport, a Porsche Cayenne S Coupe, a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and a Lamborghini Urus.
In 2020 Ndlovu posted a video on social media, which featured a fleet of luxury vehicles, including the Jeep Grand Cherokee, three Porsches and the Lamborghini.
A Special Investigating Unit (SIU) probe found that Ndlovu pocketed almost 90% of PPE tenders worth R172 million. The money had been used for his personal benefit.
In a few months, he spent millions on cars, houses, furniture, investments and fittings for his houses, while R16 million was withdrawn in cash.
The 19 contracts he obtained by abusing the emergency procurement procedures initiated in response to Covid-19.
The tribunal ruled that Ndlovu had to repay more than R158 million, with interest. It ordered that the preserved properties and funds held by Ndlovu, Zaisan Kaihatsu and Bugatti Security Services and Projects, to the value of R42 million, be forfeited to the state.
