Luyanda Mboniswa, the man who murdered former First Lady, Marike de Klerk, is due to be released on parole at the end of the month.
Mboniswa killed De Klerk in December 2001. He had been working as a security guard at the block of flats that she lived in.
He also stole a cell phone, money, and a watch.
In 2003 he was sentenced to life in prison for murder and aggravated robbery.
A spokesperson for the department of correctional services, Singabakho Nxumalo, was quoted as saying that Mboniswa was considered for parole as he had: ‘served the minimum required time and will be admitted into the system of community corrections, whereby he is expected to comply with specific set of parole conditions for the rest of his natural life’.
