The leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, has threatened to form his own government in the country.

The RSF is currently engaged in a conflict with the Sudanese military government, which some have warned could spiral into full-blown civil war.

Dagalo said he would form a government in the capital Khartoum, if the military government forms an administration in the city of Port Sudan. The government is apparently considering building a presidential palace in Port Sudan as well as new headquarters for the foreign ministry.

Port Sudan has been the military government’s administrative centre since the conflict between the two factions broke out in Khartoum in April.
