Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya has brushed aside criticism that some ministers in the newly constituted Government of National Unity were using the media to showcase their successes, to the embarrassment of their peers.

Recent media reports have suggested discomfort on the part of ministers drawn from the ANC that those from the DA were outshining them.

Magwenya, however, said that this sort of resentment was uncalled-for.

“The ministers who are DA members have gone about doing the work of government and have used their social media platforms and profiles to communicate what they are doing in government. What is wrong with that? There is nothing wrong with what has been done by the new ministers in their enthusiastic nature of communicating,” he said.

He added that the Presidency expected ministers to be visible to the public and to communicate about their work.
