England squared the one-day international (ODI) series against South Africa in Johannesburg yesterday. The English won by two wickets with Moeen Ali hitting the winning runs.

South Africa won the first match in Cape Town last week, with the second game in Durban being rained out.

South Africa had managed to post a competitive total of 256, thanks to half-centuries from Quinton de Kock and David Miller.

In reply England got off to a fast start with opener Jonny Bairstow scoring 43 off only 23 balls before falling to Lutho Sipamla. England appeared to have the chase under control, thanks to Joe Root and Joe Denly, before losing four wickets for twenty runs towards the end of their innings. However, Ali managed to see them over the line.

Adil Rashid, the English leg-spinner, was named man of the match for his three wickets.

England and South Africa will now play three T20 internationals.
