A Labour Party mayor in Britain is facing a furious backlash for saying that Boris Johnson ‘completely deserves’ his intensive-care battle with coronavirus.
According to Mail Online, Sheila Oakes, the mayor of Heanor in Derbyshire, is one among many left-wing trolls who have targeted the Prime Minister with abuse on social media.
Oakes said: ‘Sorry, he completely deserves this and he is one of the worst PM’s we’ve ever had.’
The Prime Minister was transferred to an Intensive Care Unit at St Thomas’s Hospital in Westminster on Monday night as his symptoms worsened. He had been admitted to hospital on Sunday.
The Mail referred to some of the tweets that followed Oakes’ comment:
‘poor boris? no. poor nhs. f… that scruffy man’
‘Stormzy said f…Boris and corona did the rest’
‘Boris Johnson in ICU. F…yeah
‘Were gonna have a party when boris johnson dies’
‘Boris Johnson about to die due to Rona’ (with a photo of a beautiful woman beaming up to heaven with her hands in prayer).
And so on.
