According to a new book, US President Donald Trump insulted former South African President, Nelson Mandela, saying he had turned the country into a ‘shithole’.
This is according to Michael Cohen’s new book, entitled Disloyal,which is due to be published this week. Cohen is Trump’s former personal lawyer.
In a foreword to the book, which was released last month, Cohen calls Trump ‘a cheat, a liar, a fraud, a bully, a racist, a predator, a con man’.
The book alleges that following Mandela’s death in 2013 Trump said: ‘Mandela f***ed the whole country up. Now it’s a shithole. F*** Mandela. He was no leader.’
The book also claimed that Trump said all countries run by black people were poorly run.
Cohen also alleges in the book that Trump said black and Hispanic Americans were too stupid to vote for him as President.
Cohen is currently under house arrest for tax evasion and other crimes which the White House pointed out, to cast doubts on his credibility. However, a number of other former Trump allies have previously heavily criticised Trump, notably former National Security Advisor John Bolton, whose book also made a number of disparaging claims about the US President.
