Pressure on British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, is growing, as more senior figures in his Conservative (or Tory) Party call for his resignation.

This follows revelations that Johnson and his staff had held parties at his official residence, 10 Downing Street, while the country was locked down with restrictions to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tim Loughton, an MP and former Under-Secretary in the cabinet of David Cameron, said Johnson’s position was ‘untenable’ according to the BBC.

Tobias Ellwood, another MP and former cabinet member, echoed Loughton’s sentiments and said that Johnson must get a grip on the situation or face being turfed out of office.

A number of Tory MPs also said that their inboxes were full of messages from outraged constituents, angry at Johnson’s behaviour.
